Week 6 of my Health and Weight Loss Dairy and this week I’ve been distracted.

You may have started to notice a pattern here.

I seem to have one amazing week, followed by a week or two of mediocrity or just plan old disappointment.

There were no ground breaking revelations like last week and my gut was no exactly well behaved…

Luckily I know why. A complete lack of dedication and focus from myself, but more on that later!

Do you know what happens when you stop focusing? You don't get any progress, in fact you will often loss progress!!! That exactly what happened to me in week 6 of my health and weight loss diary!

You can find all the details of why I started this diary right here. Curing my chronic health conditions is my main priority, particularly my IBS and leaky gut. While the weight loss is more of an added bonus, but nonetheless something I’ve been trying to achieve for a while!

I want to start with the stats this week, just because I think they are important component of the underwhelming results I got this week.

(The first number was my week 5 stat and the second number is where I am now…)

Weight: 181.6lbs –> 184.4 lbs

Bodyfat Percentage: 35.2% –> 35.1

Right Arm: 12.5in –> 12.5in

Left Arm: 12.5in –> 12.5in

Chest: 41in –> 41in

Waist: 34in –> 34.5in

Hips: 43.5in –> 44in

Ass: 46in –> 47in

Right Thigh: 26in –> 26in

Left Thigh: 26in –> 26in

So that’s….

  • 2.8 pounds gained
  • 0.1% body fat percentage lost
  • 2 inches gained

Couple these results with how unhappy my gut has been this past week and things aren’t looking great.

Except I know exactly what went wrong.

I haven’t been putting my health first.

This year I made it my mission to solve my chronic health conditions and lose weight for good, and this week is an excellent example of what happens when you forget your mission. You don’t progress, in fact you lose progress…

Why was my stomach bad?

Basically I’ve been having this delicious, healthy protein shake a lot. It really helps to stop me from bingeing on crummy food as I don’t feel like I’m missing out on eating yummy things.

However this protein powder has realistically got too much fibre in.

In fact I tracked my fibre intake for a fews day and I’m hitting about 17g each day my stomach is bad.

Most people who can’t tolerate fibre, well their limit is 10g per day so it’s no wonder my gut hasn’t exactly been happy with me…

So what’s the solution?

I’m currently experimenting and searching for an alternative protein powder that still tastes delicious (and therefore still helps stop me from bingeing) but is also super low in fibre! That should solve the problem!

Why did I put on weight?

By not prioritising my health last week, this has meant I have not been working out.

Plus I tracked my food intake and it turns out I’m also eating above 2,000 calories on a quite a few days.

Now this wouldn’t be a big issue for most people because 2,000 calories is a normal daily allowance, except that all I do all day everyday is sit and work on the blog.

I should be so lucky to be burning even 1,500 calories each day in my current sedentary lifestyle!!!

So the simple reason as to why I put on so much weight this week was because I’ve burnt barely any calories, but eaten enough calories for someone with a very active day…

Good one Sammy…

Hey at least I know what went wrong and how to fix it, so it isn’t all bad.

I need to prioritise my health this week and put that above my blogging work.

The only problem is that we are away this weekend and so realistically I won’t be able to eat perfectly for a couple of days. But that just means the results might not show until week 8 rather than next week, week 7.

I just know I’m getting so much closer to curing all this!!!
